Training and development

IL FORNAIO focuses on appropriate training and evolution of staff, we supply a range of development solutions to meet the ever changing needs of our corporate strategic plan with all staff given access to training. We emphasise on improvement towards a multi skilled workforce and an increasing level of importance goes towards customer service.

Health and safety

The safety and wellbeing of staff and customers Is of prime importance to IL FORNAIO, our philosophy is to be proactive in the field of health and safety and act upon prevention not cure. All members of staff are trained on matters of health and safety as a part of their induction process and receive on going on the job training.
IL FORNAIO has also drawn up a comprehensive health and safety policy and system of risk assessments. Risk management groups meet quarterly and consist of senior executives from each division of the business. This provides a forum for reviewing levels of risk and the controls that are required to deal with them, food safety and environmental issues also play an integral part of these meetings.

Compliance Technologist

Job Purpose:

Actively manage our finished product specification system, our customer requests for information, our supplier files ensuring all data is accurate and up to date, end to end management of customer complaints including supplier and customer responses and ensuring close off to the required timescales, and supporting technical team to ensure BRC compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage our specification system to ensure all products have accurate and up to date specifications based on the recipes.
  • To manage a system, where any relevant changes to the raw material, process, recipe etc. are reflected in all the related products specifications across all customers.
  • Support technical team to ensure BRC compliance by taking ownership of sections and supporting with internal audits, traceability etc.
  • Actively manage our complaints system end to end from receiving from customer to closing off the complaint and reporting trends.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by proactively responding to requests to the required timescales.
  • Maintain supplier files to ensure all information required is present and up to date.

Key Skills:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in food science or related subject
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a food safety role, ideally having managed food specification systems.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office.
  • Experience in a customer facing roll.

Salary: £28000 - £30000 a year based on experience.
